Since most Spaniards live in small apartments, everybody socializes outdoors. Teenagers often get together in the city center, La Plaza Mayor
and
hang out, with nothing to fear, since Spain is a very safe country. In
the picture at left, the entire city of Salamanca, a famous college town,
was celebrating just after Spain won the World Cup Championship Soccer
Game, for the 3rd time in a row.
Below I am sipping a sangria in one of Antonio Gaudi's Famous Parks in Madrid, La Guell. He is a world famous architect. Note the mosaic tiled bench. If you'd rather socialize with friends, you can walk the many paths, like this vine covered tunnel or play futbol in the open area below right.
So what would your favorite type of socializing be in Spain and why? Post below.
Socializing and eating outdoors seems most enjoyable to me. I always like to be outside when the weather permits it (especially at night in the Summer). It's great to go out and stay outside at night at an outdoor bar or social event. Walking the paths of a vine covered tunnel sounds scenic, relaxing and maybe romantic at night! Eating outside in the middle of the street at midnight seems a bit bizarre, but i'd try it!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see the mosaic bench in person! I love looking at creative architecture and I think it would be very interesting to see because it looks so beautiful in the picture. I love being outdoors and I think it would be a great experience to enjoy a meal in the middle of the street as you have pictured in this posting. It looks like the whole community really comes together during this time and I think it would be super fun to join in on the fun!
